Assuming you have proper second geaar operation when driving the lack of kickdown is caused be a bent or slipped kickdown rod. There are a hundred different diagrams etc on how to adjust it but here is how we really do it. 1 Unhook the kickdown rod from the carb. 2 Have an assistant press the accelerator pedal to the floor.(Engine OFF) 3 With your hand push the kickdown linkage all the way to the rear 4 Adjust the kickdown linkage so it mates up exactly with the wide open carb and snap it back on. 5 Check to be sure nothing is binding or hitting then start engine and enjoy.
