An alignment would be a good idea regardless, but two things are possibly amiss here. First, the steering wheel should be have been centered before they attached the steering column/linkage to the gearbox. An easy test to see if this was done right is to set the wheel so the car points straight ahead, then turn the wheel full left and full right. You should have the same number of rotations to each side (put a piece of tape at the top of the rim, since it will be confusing to monitor the rotations with your wheel all askew like that). If not, the box was installed incorrectly and your mechanic needs to do it again for free. If so, see the next item: Second, the wheel can be pulled (with a steering-wheel puller) and reset to the correct spline so the spokes are level when pointed straight ahead. Then go get an alignment anyway.
