Calipers
Mike,
Correct me
if I am wrong, but on the Corvette Calipers, the seals live in the bore, not
on the piston. On these budds, the seal lives on the piston and has to be
inserted into the bore with the seal slightly compressed. In addition the
piston has a shaft at the bottom that has to slide into a mating bore at the
bottom of the caliper, so it is not possible to install the piston on an angle
and work the seal in.

Hi guys----I've done a few Corvette calipers ---4
pistons---I used a piece of plastic pipe with a slightly smaller dia and use
it to insert the rubbers into the caliper bore without any difficulty ---lube
with brake fluid ----Mike Popp

did you take a look at the club website's
Master
Technicians Service Conference for 67-69, the years that the
budd brakes were used? I saw a few sessions that looked
promising. Also check the Service Manual (coming to the website
soon)?
They are on the respective pages...
I have a NOS Budd rebuild kit on my shelf. If you can not locate
anything on the website, I will open it and see if there are instructions
there.

Anyone
know the secret to putting the pistons back into the caliper

on the 4 piston 1968 Budd calipers when new piston seals are used?
