Many thanks for the quick responses. Rolland, the shift seems much better
when I stomp it. The move from 1st to 2nd seems as if it slips out of
clutch, over-revving abit, then catching itself. At medium speedy, this is
pronounced. At lower RPMs, its more subtle and when I stomp it, it seems to
go away. And yes, I will follow up on the maintenance items. My car has been
in the garage most of the time since I bought it, but my beater Fleetwood
just lost its alternator so instead of dropping another wad of dough into
that, I want my Coupe as my daily driver.

This adjustment is done on the outside of the  transmission.  About halfway
up on the drivers side of the  transmission case is a square adjusting screw
