The switch is not the cause of the seat operating in the wrong/different direction. That is caused by the wires not being correctly connected. If there is a position where the switch does nothing, and the wires are connected for that function, there could be a switch problem. That is if you don't hear a solinoid click, which would mean that the switch works, but the solinoid isn't, or if the motor runs, but the seat doesn't move. In this case, there is something wrong with the cables inside the seat adjustment mechanism.

I need some advice from you experts on it (65Crown 4dr with bench seat). The motors are strong but we?re having problems with the switch. The best I can tell, it?s got up, down, back, forward, tilt back and tilt forward. Right now, the switch only operates part of the time. You have to really jiggle it and then it won?t necessarily go in the direction you?re pushing (for example: push down and it goes forward, sometimes) We?ve also gotten it to react when pushing in on the switch and then pushing forward or twisting but it?s never consistent.
