Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that something funny was up. I
emailed the high bidder also and asked them if they thought that they might
want to verify information before purchase. They had noticed the
duplicate auction as well, and asked the seller to verify title, etc, before
monies would exchange hands. As an observant IMLer pointed out (Roy), the
second auction shows a car with Iowa plates, so one might think that the Iowa
auction was more likely to be the real auction. However, I am not sure
that I personally would bid on either out of caution. A good friend of
ours just lost more than $5000.00 buying a motorcycle on a fraudulent
auction. I am much more careful with higher dollar purchases now.

I just sent eBay security an email describing this, so
hopefully they'll
figure it out. I would guess that the auction
requiring an immediate
payment of deposit is the fraudulent one,
unfortunately, it does have a bid.
