To whoever still cares, The other day I posted a reply to the " coupe vs sedan vs hardtop " thread. My reply had a couple objectives involved and I will explain that in a moment. I have to say first that todays reply to the post I made was hilarious to me and it made some very good points. Regarding my post, my first point was that I was actually interested in what or who actually defined such a thing as a coupe or hardtop. Today there was a post about some SAE paper that actually defined that. Ok cool....now I know as well, as quite often things get hazy and many things become basically group knowledge and are accepted as fact without any regard to what is actually factual. Many times in the car hobby we can go to a reference and find out a piston height, valve size, torque value, paint code etc etc. I admit these are really not areas to get excited about and make a big deal out of, but when something incorrect gets repeated often enough, it becomes taken as fact. To the person who made that post, I had no quarrel over the fact they posted. I just wanted to make a point and I had a good idea that they would get the point and not get too upset about it. Todays reply proved that to me, I thought it was hilarious and it does bring up the idea that if I want proof of a post, then I should be able to provide same....touche, point well made. I hope the individual enjoyed that one as much as I did. Fwiw, I have never ridden in a railway carriage coupe, I would not recognize one if it was about to run over me. If I did want to know about them, I would indeed try to be as exhaustive and pursue total accuracy to the nth degree if at all possible. Perhaps we can take that to the Salon and research it indepth. The only other thing I would add....MR Sutton was my Dad. I dont use that term as I work for a living. I never reply to that either , as generally I find that the only people who use that term want to sell me something or presume that I owe them something. Mikey 62 Crown Coupe
