Regarding the 63 throttle linkage:

Check the condition of the transmission and engine mounts, unlike most later
cars which have a cable throttle linkage and are less apt to have the
problem, the linkage in the 63 is mechanical and it doesnt take much
relative motion between the engine and the car to give you that " floating "
feel in the throttle linkage. Also, check that all the various joints and
ball ends etc etc are nice and snug, any slop there will show up as well.
