Thanks, Paul. Talking about the Packard Club? PAC? John Lazenby mentioned their club store has cases available. I inquired but the contact is away at this time. I would appreciate more particulars from you. The particular car is, gasp, a DeSoto '56 Adventurer, freshly restored. We plan to show it at Concours events this Spring and Summer and judged at the AACA Western Regional this August in Santa Rosa hoping to qualify for a first Junior. We showed it this past week-end and managed to get a 2nd in class. Of course, the 1st place winner was as is often the case, sigh. We're very pleased to have received an award. While trying to park the car, it died and smoke started wafting from under the hood. Pushed into place, then discovered the cable to the starter had touched the manifold causing the smoke and shorting everything out totally wiping out the battery. Have not been able to recharge it AT ALL. So, as it is the third "authentic" Mopar battery, we thought we'd try another tack, hence the Optima inquiry. Thanks for your help. Oh yes, we had another battery with us and we extended the cable and wrapped it in electric tape enabling us to start and drive the car. All this before the judges arrived. Having poor luck with them as first two were duds and the third is now poorly performing. No help from manufacturer on shipping damage, etc., etc. So considering an Optima battery inside a correct case. I have heard that is done or is possible. Any experience with that out there? Where does one get an empty case? Would I have to make one up myself emptying out one of the bad ones? Sounds messy to me. > > > >Maybe there is advice and/or experience to relate??? > > > >Thanks, Henry Hopkins, Richmond, CA > > > >
