Hello all:
Since I am in the process of purchasing a condominium with an enclosable car port, I have placed the 1958 Imperial I have recently purchased in secure and dry storage temporarily. I have been following the recent chatter about 1958 Imperials with interest, and have a few questions I would like to put out for general consideration.
1) We suspect that one of the reasons my Imperial is such a hard starter may be related to the battery since whenever we jump start the car, the Hemi roars to life with no hesitation. We have not yet had the battery tested to see if there is a bad cell in it or not, but I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions as to what batteries I might consider as a replacement.
2) I have learned from the previous owner of the Imperial that the tires on it are at least fifteen years old and probably older, and as nice as they look, and as much tread as they have, I intend to replace them before I ever take her out on the highway or interstate. Would anyone happen to know what the correct white wall width was on the 1958's original wide white wall tires?
3) Has anyone ever found a car cover which fits the 1958 Imperials well? A few weeks ago, I sent an inquiry to one of the car cover companies but never received a response or acknowledgment.
As always, I thank you for your assistance.
