I tried two times to make a "home made" gasket with gasket material, w/ or w/o sealer, dry or oiled with compressor oil, etc.... And always leaking !!! I bought one NOS from Collectible auto supplies ! No leaks, perfect sealing ... > I believe there might be a "dipstick hole" on the compressor case > (with a screw in plug in it) to check the oil level On my '57 compressor ("V" type, same until the '70s..) there's a screw in plug : hex "allen" socket.. Problem was to removed this plug which has never been removed since 40 years... The "allen wrench" rounded the plug... So i had to drill the plug and ..opened the oil pan to remove the remaining. That's why i needed a gasket...
