One Sickening '50 Imperial

Hola

Today while at work I was passed by a pick up truck with the 5th wheel flat
bed trailer loaded with older vehicles. I followed the truck to "Alpine
Steel." The vehicle went through the scales before I could get to it. On the
trailer was a 1950 Imperial. After work I went back to the "crushers" to ask
if
they would let me remove items. The answer was a firm no, but he did agree to
let me have a look. All of the bright work was in a box that was in the trunk.
That was one good looking box. The wheel covers and the carb and some other
chrome pieces were also in the trunk. The right rear fender appeared as if
some parts person had given the owner the new fender and they had bolted it on.
The interior was in about one hundred and forty three pieces for it looked
as if they were getting ready for new upholstery.

I did go back to the yard boss and asked if it would be possible to buy the
generator from him. His answer was, " ... if I start now I will be having
every old car nut begging for this and that," I moaned about that car having a
positive ground six volt generator and that you can not find a new one, and
..... That yard boss must like his position for he would not change his mind.
