white wall yellowing

My theory is non moving air in a garage that is closed up, dark and dank may cause it.  Also, in my case, starting the cars in closed shop may cause the exhaust fumes to yellow the white walls.  I don't always open the big doors to the building to allow for ventilation of the fumes. Probably a lot of things contribute to the yellowing.

Why when the car sits do you get this problem, and if you drive the car daily you just wash the car and they come clean.  I do not get it.
