Cars w/No Soul!

I usually don't comment much on new car threads, but this one caught my
interest since it mentions bringing back an Imperial. Notice that I said "an"
and not "the". I think that any new Imperial would have to be "an" Imperial
until it proved itself. It is always a chance that the name "Imperial" could
end up like the name "LeBaron".

As I was typing, the news here just featured another new Chrysler. This time it
is a sedan that nearly resembles a four door version of a K-310 ('50s Chrysler
show car). This is interesting because what I planned to say in this post was
that a cool possibility for a new retro-Imperial could be one based on the
styling of the '55 model. That concept would be in vogue with other modern
revivalist styling, of which some has been excuted better than others. '55
model styling is highly adaptable to a much smaller car. In fact the original
show cars that featured it looked like much smaller cars to begin with.

It would have to be a unique, premium luxury model in order to capture my
interest, and could coincide with the anticipated introduction of the next
suicide door Lincoln being considered for 2006. I really believe that there is
merit to the retro-styled cars, but they haven't hooked me yet. Maybe a new
Imperial with just the right combination of '55 styling cues, and modern
features would accomplish that.

It would be nice to have one new car on the market that I would have an
ambition to own someday.
