Driveline supports and trans mounts

Whenever you are checking out the driveline support, take a moment and see
just how soft and pliable the rear trans mount has become. They get soaked
with transmission fluid over the years and that turns the rubber into ,
well..basically the polite term would be mucus.

The upshot of that is that the rear of the trans is now able to move around
a bit under torque and can cause that driveline to whip around a bit, the
symptom will sound and feel very much like a carrier bearing going bad. If
you are going to be doing a carrier soon, it may be just the time to replace
the trans mount as well. Then the next time either of those should need
any further attention should be around the year 2050 !
