Hi Allan,
You asked for comments in response to your remarks about the '64 thru
'66's. Please read my post from November 12 (below this one).
I almost mentioned the windshield as being the only styling design
carryover from previous years but I believe the side mirrors were
too. At any rate, these three years (in my opinion) are so totally
distinctive, so formal, like a LIMOUSINE! I appreciate the fins from
earlier years along with the pod headlights from the '61 thru '63's. I
love the '67' and '68's. And I do like the fuselage years too. Heck,
the remaining run of Imperials thru '75 look just fine too. I
would buy an '81 thru '83 Imperial if I hadn't just bought another car ('63
Limited Edition 'Princess Grace' T-bird). But I will have to say again,
the understated elegance, the quiet good looks of the '64 thru '66 models...well
they just make my heart SING!

Hello All,
Well, now that we have thoroughly discussed the '57
model...I would like to add my .02 worth. As much as I admire the
styling of (and would enjoy owning) an Exner Imperial, I chose my '65
primarily because of its limousine looks. I
think one would have to go a long way to find another Imperial (or
other make for that matter) with the understated elegance of the
'64 thru '66 models. The clean, crisp lines Elwood Engel was so
famous for ('61 Lincoln Continental) to me are as attractive now as
they were in '64 (another banner sales year for Imperial). Many have told
me how much my '65 reminds them of a Lincoln. My usual reply
is it is reminiscent of the Lincoln's styling but with an
Imperial FLAIR!
I guess that is why I chose this model ('65 Crown
convertible) to pour tens of thousands of dollars into! I have many
fond childhood memories of the car and even at ten years
old, I thought then there was nothing else quite like that body
style! I don't think another car (American anyway) ever had
the tempered glass headlight covers. The leather seat cover
design in my '65 is far more attractive (to me) than seat designs
from other luxury models from that year. The Incomparable years
('64-'66) weren't called that for nothing as far as I am concerned! Gee,
am I biased here? Sorry, but I just happen to like Imperials
from these three years a lot!!!!!!!!
