Ted, your Carter carb problem may not be
as bad as you think.
Contact Gary Nelson:
gary@xxxxxxxx he is located in Reno,
NV & rebuilds carbs & nearly all other mopar parts including
Imperial parts, he is an interesting man & very knowledgeable.
I bought two kits from local parts
houses to rebuild my 56 Imperial WCFB & although the kits were close
they were not exact, took them back & found out about Gary, called him &
had the right kit at a very reasonable price 3 days later.
I rebuilt the carb & it know works
perfect.
His day time phone is 775-853-5335, if
you get his recorder leave a message & he always calls back, sometimes in
early evening.
Good luck.

Subject: Re: IML:55 carb troubles Hi!
No, I have the standard Carter-but a post on this website said Holly would
rebuild all makes of carbs, so thought I would
give them a try, or at least get a quote. I am concerned that I may have a
crack in the carb allowing fuel to gradually seep out. I might not find this if
I rebuilt it myself, whereas Holly would magnaflux the carb. (I hope!) Also need
a new choke spring, mine now has to be manually choked with a clothespin on the
linkage!!
