comparing Cadillac to Imperial





The 472 which was the Cadillac powerplant from 1968 - 1970 was a very good 
motor.  The air cleaner was narrow due to the hood clearance in order to keep 
the car with a relatively low stance.
I'm not sure about 400 HP coming out of a De Ville, but I wouldn't be surprised 
on the Eldorado.  The heads were different, and the 68-69 models were rated at 
380HP.  However, there were some changes in 1970 in anticipation of emission 
controls.
I had a 68 Coupe De Ville, and it definitely had the potential of being a 
muscle car in a tuxedo.

I do agree about the interior materials of Cadillacs from 67 on, and their 
somewhat substandard appearance.  They were leaning more towards plastics and 
other veneers.  That is where Imperial had the edge until the styling changes 
of 69 on.

exhaust manifolds looked pretty bad too.<br><br>Still, a good looking car, 
 far ahead from modern Caddies, at least in terms of
