Hello again! The plastic cap sounds great on the master cylinder. I would like to find one. My car is not a show car. As for the original-it is made of pot metal, hollow. with a square nut on top. Only a wrench would fit, an open wrench at that. Soaking the threads in solvent didn't work-nor did the judicious application of heat. When force was applied, the hollow nut crumbled. White Post Restorations replaced it with an original style cover- The inside was somewhat pitted-they said they had resleeved it and installed new rubber. It was then painted original color. The master cylinder works well now, as I also replaced all the wheel cylinders in front. I ordered new shoes from a supplier-they wouldn't fit inside the drums. No way could I get them on. Called the supplier, who insisted they were the right shoes. Finally, I took sandpaper to the shoes, and after a LOT of sanding got them reduced in size to where they would fit inside the drums. They work fine now, next have to replace the rear ones, which have grease on them from a leaking axle seal. I wonder if any other club members have had such problems with cylinders and shoes on the 55's???????? TED at cebuisle@xxxxxxx
