When I had a 66 that needed one of these, I brought the old
one to my local parts store & they matched it up with a new one. The
price was $5.00. The previous owner of the car thought it needed valve seals,
since it ran so rough when cold & put out clouds of black smoke. I
accidentally touched the linkage on the pull off one time & the diaphragm
opened & the problem went away. I knew I had discovered the
problem.

Yes, it is the right name for an external part of the
carburetor assembly, and you do need one which works.
To find a
vendor for anything on an Imperial, your best bet is always to check the
IML vendor list -these folks know what you need and are known to be good
vendors.
