If the car has the correct fuel tank, there is no vent line on
it as the 63 & earlier had. In 64, they went to a vented cas
cap.

The problem here is the vent line into the fuel tank.
Look under the left side of the car for a hose coming down the side of the
tank from the top. To test that this is plugged, open the gas cap half a
turn to release pressure and road test. If no more cut out, that's
it. It takes reverse pressure to blow out the obstruction. I used
compressed air back through the fuel line, carefully!
