I bought it at a public auction in March of 2001. 25,445 original miles. Only a small amount of rust at the bottom of the rear quarter pannels. Paint was dull until I rubbed it out. Now shiny and beautiful. Chrome is in great condition. Interior is black and white with no wear and has the original dealer installed plastic covers. The car was in storage for 17 years with the previous owner only putting less than 500 miles on it in that time. Consequently some mechanicals with rubber elements have failed and been been replaced, fuel pump, master cylinder, and power steering pressure hose. My winter projects are: 1) recoring the radiator and heater core, 2) replace water pump, thermostat and hoses, 3) rebuilding the carburetor, 4) re-arch rear springs, 5) stainless exhaust pipes, 6) replace valve cover gaskets, 7) door wiring strain relief tubes, 8) electrical short in the starting circuit, and 9) temperatire sensor or gage. Wow! Working on my Imperial is as fu n as driving it. Parking is a challenge! My goal for this year is to get it reliable to drive where I have confidence to go long distances. Maybe next year I'll paint it. It'll be like a new car!!
