Hi, The area in Southern California that I live in is full of 81-83 Imperials. I see them in yards and on the road. I know of at least seven in my area alone that are sitting abandoned in driveways. The self-serve auto yards that you take your own parts from seem to almost always have a 81-83 Imperial in them. They always seem to be in the same condition. Someone has put a carburator and manifold on and a regular fuel pump and then it gets to complicated for them to go the next step and they are junked. When I had my 81 I used to buy 81-83's all of the time off of the side of the road for around $1500.00. These cars were usually given to the "help" by the original owners. They would drive them for a while and then sell them. I used to take the good parts for my 81 and then sell the cars for more money. I have had many low mileage cars offered to me in beautiful condition. They also always still have the fuel injection. The owners are almost always the original and the complaint is almost always the same. They say that they will stall in bad situations and scare the owner. They will replace them with new cars which they count on to be more reliable. I dont think that we will ever know exactly how many of these cars still are around because of the cars like these that are being junked on a regular basis. I guess that those of us that have one in our collection will have a rare car sooner then we think.
