Hello All,
It is my observation that ridicule of our passion for old cars is actually based upon jealousy. Why you say? Think about it. Take an Imperial( or any other old car) out for a spin. What happens? Questions - thumbs up - "I remember my neighbor -grandpa - father had one" - "I love the chrome, size, big engine power gagets". In short -- people tend to stop, talk, wave and smile. How many $20,000 - $50,000 new cars get this type of attention? The answer? Few - if any. Even in my little town( which should be reclassified as "Chevy Heaven") people always stop, stare and point at my 64 Imperial. My perspective is quite simple. I am an automotive historian . I have chosen an era in which I am truely comfortable . That may also be the second reason some people ridicule us. After all - how many folks can honestly say they are "comfortable" in the year 2003?
