bracket replacement

Hello Hugh. I have a lot of work ahead of me. My father and myself will be
re-ringing the stuck pistons. I'm also going to have the the torqueflite
looked at and possibly rebuilt. We may celebrate another New Year before I
even get Priscilla running. The entire braking system needs an overhaul too.
That gives me plenty of time to try and locate a cradle for my original
generator. Like I said before, if I find one I'd love to keep my engine
stock. If it proves elusive, which I doubt, then I will go with "plan B" a
non-stock alternator. I also wanted to ask you a question concerning a
previous post Hugh. You said that you needed an original carb to mount the
original air cleaner assembly. I bought an AFB from a local carburator shop.
It is not an original 1958 AFB, but of a later vintage. The carb has the
correct 4.5" opening on top and fits the air cleaner just fine. However the
body of the carb is significantly wider than the original style. Will this
prove to be trouble when I get ready to reassemble the engine? Thank for your
help Hugh.
