Battery cut-off switches.



A caution on these battery cut-off switches.  Only the very best ones have
low enough internal resistance to be used successfully on 6 volt cars.  A 6
volt starter needs as much a 400 amperes to operate, the run of the mill
switches have too much voltage drop at that current, and will cause very
slow cranking, just like an incorrect battery cable.

On my 6 volt cars, I use a much simpler technique.  When I park the car for
a few days or more, I remove one battery cable from the battery post.  I
leave one cable end just finger tight, and skrawnch it down on the post with
a twist when I reinstall it. This cleans the oxidation from the post and
makes it stick on very nicely.
