Subject: Re: IML: scanning in FSMs
for the website
What are sources
for the various manuals? Specifically for a 1960?

I have been thinking about Kenyon's suggestion about scanning in
things
like service manuals
Mark: On the surface it sounds like a good idea, but I would question how
much space it would require for the hundreds of pages, for all those years to
be listed? It has always been a puzzle to me why anyone would buy an old
car, and then not spend another $100 or so to buy shop/service manuals, parts
manuals, etc. These are readily available from many sources, and should
be a necessity even if you don't do your own work. I currently own 12 old
cars & trucks ranging from 1950 through 1969, and have a factory shop
manual, parts book, & miscellaneous literature for everyone one of
them. Further, I do believe it would be extremely helpful to post
information that was provided throughout the model years, in the form of
bulletins, etc. These were sent to dealers to correct various problems
that developed after the cars were delivered.
