Rooting for GM/Ford while driving a Mopar

Jon,

Escapade EXT aside, I've found myself "rooting" more & more for General Motors (gasp!). Specifically, the Cadillac divison. I think the new DeVille/DHS/DTS is a truly good looking car, and even the CTS seems less ugly as I see more of them. The Northstar powertrain is worthy of comparison with any other luxury car engine, and several journalists have written that the level of fit/finish and material quality is higher than that found on MB products of the Schrempp/Zetsche era. Now I've heard Cadillac is working on an ultra-luxury V12 sedan. At least the GM guys have something to look forward to.

I can only pray that the next-gen "chrysler" LX cars won't actually use/embarass the New Yorker name. Say it ain't so!

I could very easily picture myself behind the wheel of a DTS, The Lincoln LS V8 is worth a look too... Still my LeBaron(s) gently weep.

Carmine F.

I guess if Chrysler were something other than a name-badge for future Mitsubishi/Hyundai junk, if our best selling cars weren't trucks... Don't get me wrong, I love old cars, but it seems kind of like partying on the deck of the Titanic... Sorry, I guess this one is just some personal baggage.

So am I just an old fuddy-dud (at 29) or what?

I agree completely Carmine.  I will soon be up there for the Cadillac National Meet which is sponsored by Cadillac.   I cannot be expected to fake even a glimmer of interest in any of their current products.  I must say that Chrysler today still has it all over Cadillac, and there will never be an Escapade EXT in my future.
