Using A 12V Solenoid in place of a 6V

Arran.  As you know, at 6 V, the current through the solinoid would be roughly 
half of what it was designed for.  The force that open/closes the valve will 
also be half.  The friction under pressure may be too high for half the 
energizing force.  It may be worth trying though.
