I'm right there with you Bill. It cost around 6k to buy my car and get it
back on the road. I'm probably up to 7K now and with paint chrome and
interior I am afraid I will also be right there around 20K. It doesn't
matter so much to me since I intend to keep the car until they plant me.

So far the '59 on e-bay is a heck of a bargain.

============

I am driving a 76 NYB, which I purchased 3 years ago for $5000.

I am talking Canadian dollars.

I paid $3500 to rebuild the motor. I should have paid more attention to the
mechanical details of the car, but, damn, it was/is so pretty when I saw it,
that I bought it without considering the mechanical repairs.

I paid a couple thousand dollars since then and the car is in the shop now for
a couple more repairs.

Anyway, that is water under the proverbial bridge. I know I have more money in
the car than it is worth, but I accept the maintenance so far and I expect it
will drop off a bit. How many new parts can it use?

I love driving the big tub, even though it occasionally costs me money, and
although I always have to check the gas gauge every time I pass a gas station.

Everybody who sees it raves about how nice it looks and raves even more after
they get a ride. It's got class, style, comfort and power. It's a keeper.
