The bubbling starting around the wheelwells sounds like the biggest issue. Too bad you couldn't get a good look at the inside of the fender, wheelwell area from inside the trunk. There might be a ton of surface rust in there just waiting it poke it's ugly head to the surface. Ditto on the inside of the doors. The ticking: It could be that this car just needs to have it's oil changed...and the car driven to loosen thingz up a bit. These old engines don't like to sit for extended periods of time. Thingz tend to varnish-up and stick. Too bad that the '75's don't have an Oil Pressure gauge. I installed an aftermarket one in mine in such a manner as to not to ruin the cars' originality. The A/C compressors are easily available in parts stores and are not terribly expensive. I'd offer $2,000 or less for the car. Too bad you are not lQQking for a 4dr. Mine is still 4 Sale. It is more than $2,000 tho. Steve from Albany,N.Y. '75 Imp 4dr <--a guy looked at it the other day...and opted to buy an '88 Cataract instead. :oP He was unworthy anyway. The good is that it has 48,000 miles. The owner claims it is actual, and the overall condition of the car seems to support the claim. Very nice leather interior with minor cracking on the drivers side seat. All gages, radio , lights , seats and windows function. The car drives down the road well with surprising pep. The four wheel disc brakes stopped the car with little effort. The bad about the car is that the air conditioning is not working. The owner said the compressor is shot and needs to be replaced. The engine also had a somewhat loud "ticking" noise that I thought sounded like a lifter. There was an exhaust leak some where under the hood. The owner also told me that the rear air shocks needed replacing as they didn't hold air anymore . would these shocks be available anymore? The ugly about the car would have to be the body. Though not a rust bucket by Minnesota standards , there was bubbling starting around the wheel wells , and underneath the doors. The paint ,though scratched in spots looked to be original. The seller of this car is asking $3000 or best offer. I told him I would sleep on it and get back to him . Given my brief description , would anyone care to venture what would be a reasonable offer?.
