I'm willing to bet that the Heater Control Valve that you showed us a pic of is not the correct one...but rather a universal replacement. Possibly http://www.heatercontrolvalve.com can help you. As far as those bundles of hoses, etc.,I'll bet they go to the Valve that is supposed to be there. I don't have a '72,but..My '75,which has the Autotemp II and has a bunch of plastic vacuum tubes going to it. There is also something called the Cold Engine Lockout Switch on the '75 Heater Control Valve. It prevents the fan-motor from turning on and blowing cold air on you when the engine is not hot enuff to supply hot water. The fan turns on and blows heat once the engine reaches 140'F. It is over-ridden by the Defroster setting tho. The '75 differs from the '72 tho, even tho they are both AutoTemp II's..like Elijah mentioned. Steve from Albany,N.Y. <--used to live in Apache Junction A.Z. in '90. Wish I was there again for good. '75 Imp 4dr <--with an operating Autotemp II '79 440 powered 35 ft RV <--if I need more heat,I'll take the door off of the microwave oven and turn it on! _____________________________________________ ----Original Message Follows---- From: 72.lebaron@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Reply-To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: IML: A/C parts help please! Date: Sat, 13 Apr 2002 18:30:28 -0700 Hi all! Thanks for the many warm welcomes I've received so far. As the weather here in Phoenix already pushes towards 100* it's become pretty important for me to get the A/C working on my 1972 LeBaron. The car is 99% complete, but the few parts that are missing, I have no idea what to look for, and I don't have a service or shop manual for assistance. Under the hood, attached to the passenger's side wheel well is a heater valve. The valve looks exactly like this: http://www.checkerauto.com/product_images/AAP/FAA/74643.jpg There's also a bundle of wires and small rubber hoses (vacuum lines?) that have been neatly taped together an capped off with a plastic bag. The wires and hoses run along the wheel well and into the firewall. My best guess is that these wires and hoses connect to some kind of controller that's supposed to be attached to the heater flow valve? But since it was missing when I bought the car I have no idea what to look for. Any assistance as to what the missing part is called or where I can get one? Partsamerica.com lists something called a A/C Heater Control Switch: http://www.checkerauto.com/product_images/AAP/GPS/HS29.jpg Is THIS the part I need? Does this somehow connect to the heater valve? It appears to have connectors for wires and vacuum hoses. Please help before I swelter away while trying to enjoy my new Imperial! :^) Thanks in advance, DD _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
