Robert/Hugh; If it is definately a 58' then it has the wrong air cleaner, unless the early 58's had the bat wing type like the 57's. The carb probably looks strange in colour because it has been replaced, who knows? Hugh, the incorrect colouring on the engine was not with the valve covers it was with the covers for the spark plug leads. Robert, that may not be an alternator but is it the original type generator? As I recall I saw a 58' Chrysler for sale on E-Bay and it had a red metal plate on it like the one in my own car that reads,"Chrysler Corperation, Part #xxxx, Manufactured by The Electric Auto-Lite Co., Toledo, Ohio". I don't recall seeing that sort of plate on that generator and the mounting bracket also looks strange unless the 392 hemi's bracket is substantially different from a 331. As to the price it is not $30,000 dollars, that is just the starting bid, the reserve is probably a great deal higher then that. For that sort of money, as I stated before, the photo documentation should be a lot more extensive. Either this or go and look at it extensively before you bid.
