If anyone has a chance to pick up today's issue
(that's Friday 3/29) of USA Today, you'll see a
familiar waterfall grille on the front page of the D
section... and way in the back of the picture on
page D2 you can see two long and lovely NYBs
with none other than your fellow IMLer and a friend
standing alongside them.
The article, as we were invited into it, was to be
about people who collect the forgotten cars of the
1970s, and so a friend of mine assembled an
interesting array that includes everything from a
Chevette Sandpiper to our NYBs. I don't think any
of us expected it to be an article about "nerd cars,"
as the writer put it, but c'est la vie... When was the
last time there was an NYB in USA Today?
And I guess, therefore, it's a blessing that there is
no mention of the car except an unceremonious
downsizing of its name in the photo caption on
page D1... "Chrysler Brougham." That's Chrysler
New Yorker Brougham Salon, thank you very
much.
Oh, well... when you consider most of the news
lately, this is not the worst way to get your picture
in the paper by a long shot.
