Re Stereos etc. in old cars.... a challenge

Hi
   I have been reading with interest the info about
adding stereos and electrical add-ons
to our old imps.   One word of caution.  Here is our
59 Imp we bought for
parts.  If you look at the dash

There is such a thing as overloading the 40 year old
wiring which was the cause
of this fire according to the previous owner.  It has
a number of "extra wires"
going to several add ons which I now believe is a BAD
thing.
One more tip, Keep a fire extinguisher handy and get a
battery quick disconnect
connector in case you need to cut power QUICK.
Just something I think about every time I see this
car.
