Hi Guys
Someone on the mopar list posted this info about a guy who made/is making a really nasty dodge truck with imperial suspension, and a 440, this kind of says something about imperials, they must be stronger than trucks :-)
Aparently he used the spindles of a 70s vintage newport though which makes me wonder, wouldn't it be possible to make that switch on my 67 imperial and get rid of the damn Budd brakes.
Anyway, check out the pics of the truck here http://www.robdiesel.com/Galleries/Cars/1955DodgeTruck/index.htm there are some shots of the suspension the front is off a 67, and the rear is off a 66, I wonder what happened to the rest of the cars.

The 1955 Dodge 'JobRated' hotrod we're building is stripped down again,
there are some picture of the insides of the 440 while the blower and
manifold is off, there are a few pictures of the blower too.
Interesting point here, the front subframe is a 1967 Chrysler Imperial, the
SPINDLES are off of a 197x Newport, hence the discbrakes.
The frame to had to be cut to graft on the Imperial subframe to hold the
440, the torque reaction rear suspension is off of a 1966 Chrysler Imperial,
unfortunately it had the small case 741, so we're looking to upgrade when
the blower comes on the engine (within next week or so).
The steering column isn't on the car since the cab is off, that's also
vintage '66 Imperial tilt-a-scope steering.
Next in is also a sort of X frame to stabilize it a bit, it twisted pretty
bad already, the cam is the biggest we could fit witout having the huge
crank slap it. hehe
Balanced, blueprinted, knife-edged crank, drilled yadda yadda.. more
buzzwords done to it. With the blower it'll be even more insane.
Anyone think we can make a little more than 700hp out of this?
Headers and 3" flowmasters, this thing is a rolling earthquake.
There are a few pictures of the headlight relay stuff I am doing on the '67
Chrysler too, I yanked the headlights, measured up the harnesses before I
made them, I had to make three of them, one for the highbeam, one for
lowbeam and a ground circuit. Then there are some dicey ones going into the
relays.
I'm triggering the relays with the existing wiring so I'll wire it into the
socket for one of the previous headlights.
This poor puppy looks like a blinded Goliath, I had to leave one headlight
in just to be able to drive the pig home after dark, I hope to have the
stuff done to it next weekend, all I have to do is to mount the relays,
heatshrink and tape the harnessess together and install them. For the city
lights I'll have to drill the little bottom supports for the headlight
buckets, but that can wait a bit.
