I actually agree with you since the bows must be undone from the roof
rails. They would also have to be manipulated out of the way in order
to get to the mounting nuts, which are quite far up into the roof.
There is a risk of bending the bows, ripping the listings, or even
ripping the headliner. The headliner should probably be completely and
carefully removed in order to do the job right. Even then, It may be
damaged in the process.

Also, the tear down is extensive because after the inside trim
unscrewed the bows under the headliner have to be disconected, and
clips pushed back out to retrieve out from under the crome pieces on
the top.

@Paul:
As you know, I own a 60 Crown 4 door HT. How difficult is it to fit
these
roof panel inserts?
I really like them a lot, allthough they are already high on the dollar
at
Ebay...
However, I don't want to tear down the headliner if that is necessary
to fit
those inserts.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to mount these roof panels?

They are made to fit a four door. I believe that the request was for a
Two Door, which requires longer panels. Also, these specific panels
will only work on '60 & '61. They could be made to work on '62, but
would require some skill, and the acquisition of a several more
expensive trim pieces. 1963 had a completely different roof line and
these will NOT fit that year.

Hi: Someone on the list was looking for a pair of Stainless Steel
roof panel inserts. There is a pair for sale on E-bay for the 1961-63
Imperial. I'm not sure if those are the years he was looking for.
They are item # 200206339211.
