I haven't checked lately, but the Sedans had been valued to somewhat 
less than the Southampton Two Door Hardtops as posted here, but the 
Special Southampton Four Door Hardtop was considerably higher than 
either of these by two the five thousand dollars. That model is also 
the most rare. There is a white one in rough untouched condition on 
Ebay now going reasonable, while there is also a black sedan listed 
with an incorrect interior (and IMHO inaccurate mileage figure). The 
production of the standard 1956 Imperial models was that the Sedans 
counted for around 7,000 units, while the Southampton Two Door Hardtops 
around 3,000 units, and the Special Southampton Four Door Hardtops 
accounting for a mere 1,200 to 1,500 units. There were a total of 
around 11,000 Imperials built for the 1956 model year.

The April 2008 edition of "Old Cars Price Guide" lists '56
Imperial 2d HT South Hamptons at $1240, 3720, 6200,13960,
21700, and 31000. The last figure being a #1 car. The 4d
HT's listed at somewhat less. Condition is the key. From
your brief description it appears that your car is a #6
condition. Approximately $1200. You can plan on spending
another 10 to 15 grand to make it look good. Just my opinion
predicated on the experience I've had with my 64. Do some
homework is my advice.

Are 1956 Imperials in demand? I am driving two hours to look
at one that
runs and will pull itself onto trailer. Freeze plugs leaks
and cannot run long. Supposedly all original and they do not
know model,
etc. I would like to know some values before I make offer
and bring home.
