Thanks for clearing this up.Can you briefly explain what makes the non-standard replacement different? I commented from memory about the site when I bought mounts for my '63, and I expect to deal with this again. I plan to keep my cars, and the '65s engine mounts were replaced over 20 years ago now. I don't drive that car much, and they are not currently broken, but I expect that might happen again at some point. It had a broken mount when it was 10 years old, I had new ones installed at the local Chrysler dealer, and they broke again about five years later. By then the only place selling them was Mitchell and they cost a bundle. Those are the ones currently in the car now. I kept the old ones since I was told they might be rebuildable.
Thanks for any information that you can share. Paul W. -----Original Message----- From: Bob Schmitt <bsbrbank@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thu, 31 Jan 2008 12:20 pm Subject: IML: Motor Mounts
I am probably mistaken, but I think the '66 engine is mounted to the frame differently that the previous.
No, it's the same. Many parts books erroneously classify the '66 motor mounts with '67 and later. Because of this and much other misinformation (some on the Club website long ago), I created a webpage for these motor mounts:
http://teamchicago.com/imperial/impmm.htm ;Note that the non-standard replacement I had made (and those by Imperial Services) does not have metal -to-metal contact and works as well as the original Floating Power design.
