IML: Floating Battery Charger?

Can anyone recommend a good "Floating Battery Charger" for my 90 Imperial. I tried Schumacher 1.5amp. but it didn't hold the charge. I need something around 3 amp./ 12 volt. Apparentaly, on these new type cars their is a lot more being used off the barrtery when it sits. -Thanks -Anthony
