I can verify you need to check.  Last year I needed a new cover for my 1971 Imperial 4 door hardtop.  While I usually purchased a Simoniz cover at our local auto parts I was unable to get the size.  So I went a another W store and purchased a unfamiliar brand.  Lucky for me it was over the summer [up here in Canada we usually only get 6 months of enjoyment from the cars] and the rain - then the summer sun - well the dam cover dried to the car - and left the cloth imprints over a significant part of the hood & trunk.  Lucky for me it has a vinyl roof. I ended up going to a auto body shop to get professional quality rubbing compound and their polishing tools to get it out.  Now I always look to see it billow in the wind or go by and shake it to ensure it is not sticking.  Simonize covers though - have never in my experience stuck.  They get wet and then dry and billow in the breeze.  For winter I store in a barn / gravel floor so I expect the covers o save from bird droppings.  Anyway - my $0.02 and experiences.  Regards Peter T.
