Because it says "Imperial" http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=chrysler+imperial+sway+bar&category0= ----- Original Message ----- From: randalpark@xxxxxxx To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: IML: replacement top/vinyls-SMS Date: Sat, 08 Sep 2007 21:55:48 -0400 I totally agree with this, and will add that IMHO we should support the businesses who provide us with the things that we need. Of course, they will be expensive. These are specialty businesses with a limited clientele. They deserve to make a profit and therefore have a good reason to continue practicing their trade. When I am looking for quality, I expect to pay for it. If not, then I usually get what I pay for. That said, if I pay a high price for crummy workmanship, I do my best to learn quickly not to return for more abuse. No, they aren't inexpensive, but the grain of the vinyl was an EXACT match and the tops look GREAT. Sure, I'd love to find the same quality SMS provides at a lesser price but that isn't always something that's easy to do. They are known for having either the original material (NOS) or excellent reproductions of the original. If authenticity is important to you, I'd stick with SMS even though their price is higher. Parchment is not an easy color to find and in the correct grain as well... You may want to contact Original Auto Interiors just to see if they have the color and grain you need. But I am not sure if they actually fabricate the top with the correct seams or not. If they do not offer fabrication, don't think you can just buy the yardage and any upholstery shop can replicate the seams correctly. Those seams (on my Cadillacs, they are referred to as French seams) are not easy to do and the upholstery shop I work with told me they absolutely could not replicate them. They even suggested I let SMS fabricate it so it would be 'right' (upholstery shop owner's word choice).
