New master cylinders are easily obtained.  I got one from NAPA last year for my '60 and the '62 takes the same type.....just mounted in a better location.

I can get the part number later when I get home.  If I remember correctly the NAPA guys have to look it up in their printed books, it wasn't coming up on the computer.  Too many times the clerks will tell you something isn't available if it doesn't come up on the computer or if they can't find it in three minutes.

new one last year for my 60 Imperial and it was an easy job to find.
I bought mine at www.rockauto.com , have a look to see if they also have one 
for a 62!
