Re: IML: 1956 Imperial convertible recovered!

John Weaver of Sacramento owns a lovely pale blue one. Reach him at the IOANC by way of www.hemmings.com, click on car clubs, then click on make, you'll get a screen with about 12 clubs, Click on IOANC--Imperial owners Association of Northern California, you'll get a black screen with a picture of a 57 Imperial. Once there, see if there's any info on the car on the site. If not, contact John Tennyson whose name is probably on the site or the president, Bob Trepanier, and either can give you John's number. I don't have a roster on hand even though I am a member of the club.

ON the other one, about 6 or so years ago, it was for sale in eastern Ohio. I flew there to see it. Price was, I believe, $19,000 but it might have bee $12,000, memory fails, I guess. It was green sort of parade green but very, very rusty. All of the cvt parts were there and the trim pieces to make the car into an Imperial. Opening the trunk and I was looking at the pavement. Parts of the rear frame were very weak as I could poke my finger through the underside. Of course, I wanted it but I passed. Initial price too high, and all that was usable was the unique convertible parts, the Imperial trim and then a solid parts car to reconstruct the car. They're New Yorker convertibles with Imperial rear fenders and stainless trim side pieces that go along the middle of the rear sides and of course Imperial appointments--more luxurious interior etc. It was sold but the new owner preferred to be anonymous so I don't know who bought it. Haven't seen it shown anywhere so it may be still rotting or being restored.

Wouldn't be all that difficult to create another one out of a 56 Windsor or New Yorker cvt but the New Yorker cvts. are so rare, it'd be a crime to carve one up in my opinion.
