IML: is this a dashmount clock?

I was at a yard sale today and bought what appears to be an in-dash flush mount brass clock for an antique car. It's says "Honeywell, Type R" on the face and the bezel screws off so you can key-wind it. Plainly, it was designed to drop into a dashboard well-hole (or some similar panel) and could be extracted to wind and set the time, etc.

It reminds me of a Cartier insert clock that went into a certain year Imperial that I don't currently recall. (required Imperial content. Kinda lame, I know, but I don't know who else to ask)

Anyone know if any auto manufacturer that used a flush mount Honeywell dash clock? Or was this the early 20th Century version of the "add it to your car" Walgreens' auto accessory aisle clock? Photos sent to whoever is interested. I paid $4 whole dollars for it, so it was just for fun and certainly for sale if anyone needs just this thing for their restoration project, etc. Otherwise, it will go on my crowded clock shelf forever.
