Red cables are common because for the last several years, that has been
primarily what has been sold in the auto parts stores. I asked for
black ones once, and they said they didn't carry them any more. I could
have found them if I looked harder, but I guess I was tired and a
little bit annoyed. When I had my '60 worked on recently at my local
shop, they also replaced the battery cables. At least they had the
sense to wrap the ground in black tape (without me asking them to) so
that it looked like the ground.

Hi Timothy,
Curiosity got me. I had a look at my 65 and I dont reckon your xpal
had anything to do with your power probs. There is nothing at the carb
he could have damaged to create your dead system. Its time to pickup a
6pack and makeup.Strangely though, my ground cables is red also.Never
noticed it before. If you get to Harbour Freight and go for their $2.50
multimeters dont tug on the leads.!!! They will not survive. Good luck
