Re: IML: 1965 electricals

That's a good suggestion.  I'll look for it this weekend as I'm checking everything else out.

I don't, however, believe that this would deter me from my Imperial.  I drove a 1977 New Yorker Brougham with the fear inspiring "lean-burn" computerized spark system.  Compared with my 1965, it was lethargic, but in all other respects, for the time, a wonderful car.  The air conditioner couldn't be beat by any auto maker at the time.  I grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and the interior of that car was COLD when the A/C was on.  My parents bought in new in 1977, a mother's day gift, and the only things I had to have done to it before I sold it in 1993 was the spark system had to be replaced every 3 years, regardless of much the car was driven, the Chronometer, because, I found out, the gears were plastic, two power window motors, the A/C evaporator and compressor.  There some other things, but nothing major.  I think for a car that was 16 years old, it was pretty low maintenance, considering all the power options it had (it was loaded.)

I think something may have come undone at the starter rely.

There are several connections there, including the battery cable and
starter cable. There are also ignition and neutral safety connections
that could have come loose and result in a no start.

Once, the little yellow wire there came undone and my '65 Imperial was
dead as a door nail. I found the disconnected wire the next day and the
problem was corrected immediately, but that night I almost switched my
automotive loyalty over to FOMCO. My friends an I ended up going out in
a '64 Lincoln Continental instead, and it started every time we needed
it to.
