You can remove the cushion and back rest separately, by unbolting the
cushion from the seat frame inside the car. Whether that will be
sufficient depends on what you plan to do. The entire frame needs to
come out to replace the carpet, but it might also be more managable
with the cushions removed first.

Hi Tim,
On the '60 thru '62 there are eight nuts under the car four on each
side that need to be removed and I'm sure the '63 is the same. You will
need a one half inch deep wall socket. Once those nuts are removed get
some help to lift the seat assembly up and out. I say get some help
because these seats are enormously heavy!
