Reserve is a game played when you want to take bids on a car to gauge the market, and leave yourself the option of reducing the minimum price if things don't go your way and meet your emotional expectations of what a car is worth. It allows you to save face by lowering the reserve when nobody else agrees that it's worth more than the market will bear. Keeping it a secret? Who knows? Why bother with it? I encourage you to list the car without reserve at the lowest price you can possibly afford to part with the car for and be done with it. That way you are up-front and everyone knows what the deal is. You will get far more activity and money from extensive visual and descriptive documentation than anything revolving around a reserve scheme, says the 20 or so Imperials that I've sold on ebay this way. Better the devil you know than the one you don't. -Kenyon --- pnkmoore@xxxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: > Hey Imps: > > What's the big deal about concealing a reserve price > on an Ebay car auction? > In asking that question, I'm getting the feeling > there's an easy answer that > I just haven't figured out.
