Re: IML: power window motors

Hi George....the silicone lub you used for your '64's window tracks, was it the 'spray' kind or the 'comes-in-a-tube/can' kind? and does it matter if you use lithium grease/white lithium or ven bearing greaase in the motor gears once you take the motor apart??/
Thanks a bunch!!

I refurbished the window motors on both of my 64 Imperials. They usually
don't need to be rebuilt just get the old hard grease out of the gears & put new
soft grease in. I had two that didn't move at all till I cleaned them. The
tracks & gears inside the door should be lubed also. I used silicone lube in the
tracks. Even on a good day those motors aren't the fastest things around.
especially in the up mode. Especially in the coupe which has a larger heavier
window than a 4 door. It is not particularly hard to do just needs a bit of
flexibility to get the motors out & in.
